Kasabian

Named after Linda Kasabian, Charles Manson's getaway driver turned state witness, Kasabian took the British press by storm in the early 2000s by mixing traces of the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, and Primal Scream with Oasis-sized confidence and DJ Shadow-influenced electronics.

Kasabian expanded that sound on later albums, but the band's foundation remained rooted in swaggering, fragmented dance textures and boisterous rock & roll.

The first album, which was self titled charted in the top 5 in 2004 and also produced four top 20 singles. Second album 'Emprire' followed in 2006 and went to the top of the UK album charts. Their most recent album (West Pauper Lunatic Asylum) came out to critical acclaim in 2009 and the band were shortlisted for a Mercury prize.
